Auto Mode Technology on Portable Oxygen - LifeChoice Portable Oxygen Concentrator

LifeChoice just announced they have launched the LifeChoice portable oxygen concentrator with Auto Mode technology.

This basically means that this technology allows the POC (portable oxygen concentrator) to detect and adjust automatically the patient´s oxygen therapy (flow rate etc.) depending on the level of activity - typically periods of sleep and activity.

This activity based detection will automatically deliver oxygen according to the breathing rate when on active mode.  On sleep mode the oxygen delivery will be adjusted as it is much more sensitive to shallow breathing.

This LifeChoice POC weighs only 4.9 lbs. and so maintains its place as a "portable" device - fitting in with the requirements of thousands of COPD patients who require mobility and an active quality of life.

Over the last few years the new designs and upgrades that are constantly being launched are reflecting both the market needs (which reflects both the increasing demand in supplemental oxygen for oxygen therapy and the competition in health related products).  This is good news for patients as the end benefit is, and should be, their well being and quality of life.

The Inova Labs,  the Austin, Texas based company that commercializes and markets LifeChoice, also indicated in their press release:

The LifeChoice POC delivers true mobility and independence without tanks and carts. The novel technology can be used as both a portable and stationary oxygen concentrator, providing around-the-clock therapy. The device has a treatment range for prescription oxygen users between 1 to 3 liters per minute oxygen equivalent.

Reimbursed by Medicare and most private insurance plans, the LifeChoice POC is the only technology that features the pulse-wave delivery system to provide oxygen "on demand" congruent with a patient's normal breathing pattern. In addition, side effects from retrograde flow, such as nasal irritation and nosebleeds, are minimized with the pulse-wave delivery system.
